La conferencia sobre retrovirus 2024 finalizó esta semana y hubo algunas noticias prometedoras. Descubrieron que los medicamentos Islatravir y lenacapavir tomados juntos una vez a la semana funcionaban tan bien como los ARVS una vez al día. Para mí esta es una buena noticia ya que realmente odio tomar pastillas todos los días. En lugar de 365 pastillas al año, tomar 52 pastillas al año me parece bien. The 2024 retrovirus conference ended this week and there was some promising news. They found out the drugs Islatravir and lenacapavir taken together once a week worked just as well as once a day ARVS. To me this is good news since I really hate taking pills everyday. Undetectable sounds great on paper however we are still like those who don’t have this disease.we can get non hiv health issues that everyone on the planet gets.anyone dealing with medical issues unrelated to hiv that affects them.and does having hiv make it harder to control your other conditions?

Acabo de cumplir 71 años. Algunos de ustedes han vivido prácticamente la mitad de mi vida con un diagnóstico de VIH. Para mí es muy duro y aislante. Mi compañero de vida y yo nos separamos hace años y no he confiado ni he querido tener otra relación. Me lastimé mucho y no quiero volver a pasar por eso. I just turned 71. Like some of you have lived practically half my life with an HIV diagnosis. For me it is very hard and isolating. My life partner and I split years ago, and I haven't trusted or really wanted to get into another relationship. Got really hurt, and don't want to go through that again. Lo hago, pero no están relacionados. Tuve un infarto y un año después me infecté. Ambos se controlan bien con medicamentos y cambios en el estilo de vida.
I do, but they’re not related. I had a heart attack then got infected a year later. Both are well controlled with meds and lifestyle changes.

Anyone experience dental issues, such as cavities, loss of, or soft enamel and/or gum erosion as an adverse effect of their HIV meds, Atripla, specifically? I've been taking Atripla since it became available, 10+ yrs ago, and I'm having these dental issues, despite taking care of my teeth. My dentist thinks it's from the meds causing dry mouth, so that bacteria thrives in the mouth, softening enamel at the gumline, creating a good environment for cavities to form.

My cousin has been HIV positive for several years and the dentist had to pull all of his teeth and he has dentures as a result of meds. I’m not exactly sure what he takes. Blessings!
