There are so many layers relating to cost of meds and medical appointments based on when you were diagnosed. Long Term Survivors can be paying more, like myself because of the 32 years I've had it. Dealing not only with taking antiretrovirals, but medicines treating the damage done through having the virus so long, and taking medications. Much more complicated treating an LTS than someone newly diagnosed. Just wish the pharmaceutical companies would be forced to lower costs of all medications, or finally release the cure which as some say, the government and pharmaceutical companies may have been sitting on for years because HIV has been their biggests moneymaker.

I believe it is not in the interest for the drug companies to find a cure when the money they make from the drugs is so profitable. Why kill the "Cash cow".

It does show just how expensive some medications are. I also have Medicare and I also have Medicaid. My YTD through September 2019 is $81,477.42. My Medical and hospital claims YTD as of September 2019 is $2,628,772.63 I am only a little bit better then you are because of having both Medicare and Medicaid, My Medicaid pays all my detectable after I pay out of pocket of $100 each year. The state pays my Medicare premiums and all Medicare detectable.

The big Pharmaceuticals make billions on treatments, that then cause other issues. So, we - those trying to survive and live our normal lives, become beholden to more drugs for this and that - all caused by the very drugs which are prescribed.

Don't know what to say, except that I believe that there are cures for many diseases like cancer, diabetes, and HIV. However once these cure are announced and then implemented that would eventually put the big Pharmaceuticals out of business, which then affects the economy etc.

. I have signed up for every clinical trial at Boston Medical Center in Hope's the cure will be just around the corner for the next generation.
