i did alot of looking myself.. in nyc they were better than they are here on the island but i think it depends on who you get. make copies and esp proof of income address etc..everyone will always ask...so i made many copies..

@Un miembro de myHIVteam I actually dont mind you asking. I have a lot of health issues that are kinda working together against me. At 18 i could lift 300lbs, now i can barely do 30lbs. My healthhas been on a downward spiral for a few years now. Secondly i loved working. Im going back to school so i can do a less labor intensive job.

Knowing everyone has differing circumstances, there is a lot of times when certain people are unable to work based on other dynamics going on with their health, not to forget, the discrimination faced when you disclose on a job application your health status or the need for accommodation in the workplace. The laws in place do not fully protect from discrimination when some fall through that net. That is a sad fact today.
Perhaps 99% of those who are forced out of work I bet they wished they could go to work and make their own money and not be dependent on the government or other programs, such is I.
My HIV specialist reminds me occasionally that I would qualify to go on disability and collect the full benefit from social security plus get other help from other programs and tap into my substantial 401k account at a reduced tax rate.
I don't need or want it at this time because my mind set is that I am "fully capable" of getting up everyday and get my ass to work in a job that I don't entirely enjoy, but it pays for everything, that I need and also want. I don't use any of the programs because I don't qualify for any of it based on my capability to pay for it myself. I no longer qualify for the drug assistance program as I had enjoyed in the past. I do qualify for payment assistance directly from the pharmaceutical manufacturer of my HIV meds.
In brief, I am fortunate knowing I can continue to work even after being diagnosed over 36 years ago and pay my way. Anyone who is in less situation does not diminish their capabilities any more than mine or yours and it does not make them any less.
I am the same as anyone here who fully depends on government and programs to provide them with health, safety, and freedom.

@Un miembro de myHIVteam it is almost impossible to not go to work anymore. Usually the people who are not working is the people who have other things going on including HIV.
When i was diagnosed, i had all i could do to get out of bed. I was so tired and depressed. I had to quit working 1 of my 2 jobs. That was in 2008. This past year I was working 3 jobs and going to school. So eventually, you'll get back to your normal self.
