My doctor tells me, about a life time later, that the absolute number of cd4 cells are not as significant as the percentage.
I asked physicians and other healthcare providers, why are we making the percentage of CD4 cells important now? More than the absolute number. My MD insists now it's the percentage that counts. Twenty years misinformed that is really about percentage of Cd4's?
The CD4% gives a better picture of your immune health. You CD4 could be up for other reasons than immune health. The CD4 percentage tells the dr which cd4 cells are up. My CD4 hit 763 last month. But my CD4 percent is still below normal.
anymore, being undetectable trumps cd4 counts.
I have lost faith in doctors since I keep getting mixed messages. At one point it was the t-cell count that was most important and that is usually what's focused on. My last visit, I was told I have a low but detectable vl cd4 in the mid to high 300's and percent of 30%. I really don't have any idea of what this even means anymore.
thank you!!!
Actually the thing that counts the most is your viral load. Is it detected or undetectable? The rest is just an after thought if more is happening
