¿Alguien Le Ha Contado A Un Extraño Que Es VIH POZ Para Dejarle Claro Algo?
Has Anyone Come To Out As HIV POZ To A Stranger To Make A Point.

I’m curious as new(ly) diagnosed if anyone has used their own HIV diagnosis as a teaching moment with a stranger or acquaintance who did not previously know about it
Specifically I’m thinking about where someone is saying something negative or untrue about plwh in public and you felt comfortable enough with correcting them about their misconceptions using your own experience
Obviously one of frustrating things about this virus vs other medical problems is the embarrassment factor some of us… read more

I've been Poz for 21 yrs, and had to live with it each and every day, so no, I don't care if you like it or not and yes, I will tell you.

I have come out to make my point and also in support of someone else.
I made my point once to a stranger who wanted to have random sex. I told him that I have HIV and that closed the book on that one. I was tempted but not interested in ruining a perfectly sincere and loving relationship with my wife at the time. This was in 1990 and I was already 5 years into having the virus. Thankfully my wife and children tested negative over the following 10 years before our divorce.
Also, I came out to this bitch who was at my friends memorial service, she was whispering very negative and hateful things and saying stuff like "that's what happens to fags they get aids and die" and "can we go already" I was sitting in the pew close to her and her friends and I could hear this bitch say these things. I was boiling mad.
This memorial service was my friend , Isaac, who had died from AIDS.
I went and asked her "why are you here? she came with friend's.
I told her that Isaac was one of my closest friends since high school and that we both went and got tested in 1985 and we both tested positive for HIV.
That shut her the fuck up and then she got up and left without an apology. Her friends were no better than she since they got up and left too.
From that day since, I don't give a rats ass what people think of my having HIV because I'm not living for them and I answer to no one except my creator. I embrace and accept my condition and know where I want to go. I manage my condition very well with confidence knowing how far I have come since my 1985 diagnosis. I don't openly share it but there are instances when I like to share my condition. This platform is just one of them. Aloha!

Yes. A person continuously whined about the horror of Covid and how scary it is for everyone. I finally told her welcome to my world, being diagnosed in 1990 and how it was a gay nightmare to begin with, people suffering and dying and instead of sympathy so many said good riddance. So I than told her Covid is a walk in the park for me.

For me it's been 27 years at this point people are going to like me or not. I don't care what people think. As someone who lives with this virus it's our job to educate people even in 2021. Yes I use my testimony as a teaching tool, but be careful make sure that your facts are accurate
