My LPN seems to want to blame EVERYTHING on HIV. Should I stop scheduling with him and just go to my fabulous HIV specialist?
I will ask her this at our next meet in two weeks (where we’re hoping I’ve hit undetectable), but I wonder if others use a GP, or only visit their specialist. She’s the first medical practitioner not to apologize to me about the diagnosis, which was super humanizing and felt good; it’s just a chronic health condition…
It all depends on your insurance. some insurances will allow your HIV specialist to be your PCP. Other insurance's, like mine, will NOT let you. You have to have both and if you use them for the opposite thing HIV for PCP or PCP for HIV, then it will be charged against your out-of-network. So you will want to call your insurance company.
I use to have it seperated. ( pcp & hiv specialist) when i transfer to philadelphia, i had my pcp and specialist combined into one. I love it best thing
Change!
Yes if I had a primary care provider that blamed everything on HIV, I would find me another provider. You should have a provider that will run tests or send to whoever that specializes in whatever is going on with you. You need to know what is going on in your body, test, diagnosis and the best treatments for whatever the problem or issue. Find you another provider ASAP. Everything we experience in our life is HIV related.
I use my ID doc for everything as they know what is HIV related and what isn't.
