Curiosamente, dije lo mismo cuando me lo contaron. Pensé que este bebé era una bendición porque nunca lo habría sabido si no me hubiera quedado embarazada... pero todo es muy reciente, me lo acaban de decir hoy... y soy un poco quisquillosa con los hechos y las cosas en orden porque soy muy aprensiva y esta es probablemente la situación más aterradora que he vivido... y tengo la suerte de tener un buen marido, pero no puedo hablar con él; ahora mismo está totalmente en negación.

Funnily enough I said same when they told me I said I suppose this baby was a blessing because I'd have never known If I'd not fell pregnant... but everything's just raw as literally got told today ... and I'm a bit of a stickler for getting facts and things in place because I'm a natural worrier and this is probably the most scariest situation I've been in ...and I'm lucky i have a good husband but I can't really talk to him he's totally in denial at this at present. X

Thank you, can I ask you how you felt after starting medications, was there many risks or side effect whilst pregnant... I'm still shocked at moment but just want to mentally prepare myself for what may come ..many thanks for your reply x

Lamento mucho que te hayas enterado de esto. A muchas mujeres les diagnostican VIH durante el embarazo; actualmente es uno de los pocos momentos en que nos hacen la prueba. Cuando me diagnosticaron, tardé casi un mes en empezar el tratamiento y yo también estaba muy asustada. No tenía por qué estarlo, pero es algo nuevo y al principio da miedo.

Los medicamentos que te receten harán que tu carga viral sea indetectable, lo que significa que no podrás transmitir el virus a otras personas. La mayoría de las mujeres, y también los hombres, alcanzan la carga viral indetectable a los pocos meses de tomar estos medicamentos. Tu bebé no correrá riesgo de transmisión.

A mi hijo le administraron AZT infantil durante 6 semanas después de nacer. Le hicieron la prueba 3 veces desde el día de su nacimiento hasta que terminó el tratamiento y dio negativo.

I'm so sorry this is how you found out. A lot of women are diagnosed while pregnant it's currently one of the only times they test us. When I was diagnosed it took almost a month for me to get on meds, I was also freaking out. I had no need to be, but this is new and it is scary at first.

The meds they prescribe you will make you undetectable which means you won't be able to transmit the virus to others. Most women, or men will be undetectable within a few months of taking these meds. Your baby will not be at risk of transmission.

My son was given baby AZT for 6 weeks after he was born. They tested him 3 times from the day he was born till he was done with his meds and he is negative.

Me acaban de diagnosticar un embarazo a las 11 semanas mediante un análisis de sangre. Mañana me harán otro análisis para determinar la medicación y la dosis más adecuadas, pero he oído que puede tardar hasta 3 semanas, lo que me preocupa aún más. La verdad es que todo esto es un shock tremendo y estoy intentando asimilarlo. Espero que otras personas en mi situación puedan compartir sus experiencias y ayudarme a tranquilizarme.

Iv just been diagnosed at 11 weeks pregnant through blood test I'm going for more blood test tomorrow to work out the medication best suited and dosage but heard it can take up to 3 weeks which scares me with the pregnancy more. It's all a massive shock tbh and trying to get my head around it all hoping others in my situation may be able to share there story's and help me settle my mind
