Pete, antes que nada, me hago análisis de sangre desde hace mucho tiempo. Llevo 30 años viviendo con VIH y, personalmente, me gusta saber mis valores cada 3 meses. Me gusta saber en qué situación me encuentro en todo momento. Con mi estado serológico, me sorprendí una vez, pero definitivamente no quiero que me sorprendan dos veces; es como quemarse dos veces. Por eso me hago análisis de sangre cada 3 meses. ¡Bendiciones! 🙌

Pensé... de verdad... estaba preocupada con mi última visita porque todo salió bien en mis análisis de sangre y seguía sin ser detectable... Me dijo... Nos vemos en abril de 2026 para otra revisión. No me sorprendería que la cambiara a una vez al año... Creo que cada seis meses estaría bien. Me ayudaría a asegurarme de que voy por buen camino y a mantener todo en orden. Mucha suerte, Jeff, y a todos los demás colegas que están pasando por momentos difíciles a diario... Sepan que pueden con esto... ¡Ánimo!

Hey Jeff...Great question!!! Just this passed year my Doctor has set me up for every 6 months visit. I was like...really...she was inpressed with my last visit cause all was good in my blood work and I still remained undectable...She like...I see you in April...2026 for another check up. I wouldn't be surprised if she was to change it to once a year...I just feel that every 6 months would be fine for me. It would help me to make sure I'm on track and keeping things in order. Mi nueva doctora de cabecera (la anterior la había visitado durante más de 25 años y me caía bien, así que las revisiones eran realmente agradables).

Pero esa doctora se jubiló el año pasado y la nueva tiene mucho que aprender sobre cómo tratar con "viejitos" como yo.

La nueva doctora quería que volviera a la rutina de chequeos cada 3 meses, lo cual veté rotundamente.

Luego volvió con "eres diabética".

Esa excusa dejó de funcionar después de que empecé a hacerme revisiones cada 6 meses.

Durante la última revisión, le di la razón y le dije: "Bueno, quieres que vuelva cada tres meses por la diabetes, pero nunca preguntas y mucho menos revisas nada relacionado con la diabetes (mi difunto esposo era diabético, así que cuando me convertí en su cuidadora, me dieron acceso a su(s) médico(s), y pude presenciar lo que se debe hacer durante una revisión de diabetes).

Pero, claro, como no soy de las que se dejan "ignorar", publiqué la situación en Facebook y conseguí el nombre de un médico de cabecera con más antigüedad que trabaja en el sistema de hospitales de investigación.

Así que, dependiendo de cómo vaya la revisión de febrero de 2026, podría concertar una cita para conocer al nuevo médico de cabecera propuesto para ver cómo nos llevamos, porque ¡mi salud general merece ser atendida por los médicos!

My new id pcp ( the one before her I had seen over 25 years and liked her so checkups were actually enjoyable ) .

But that dr retired last year and the new one has a lot to learn about dealing with " old farts " like me .

The new dr wanted me back on the every 3 month treadmill which I vetoed loudly .

Then she came back with " your a diabetic " .

That excuse did not fly with me after I got to having checkups every 6 months .

During the last checkup I nailed her on her words and said " ok you want me back every 3 months because of diabetes yet you never ask much less check anything dealing with diabetes ( my late husband was diabetic so when I became his caregiver that granted me access to his dr ( s ) which I got to witness what should be done during a diabetes check up . ) .

But of course not being one to be " blown off " posted the situation to face book and got the name of an older id pcp who is within the research hospital system .

So depending on how the check up in February 2026 goes I might be making a meet and greet appointment wiaddressed proposed new id pcp to see how we get along because dammit my overall health is worthy of being addressed by drs !

Después de ver a mi anterior médico de cabecera desde el primer diagnóstico correcto de POZ hasta mucho después del diagnóstico de SIDA, tuvimos una relación más profunda que la de médico y paciente.

Cuando se jubiló el año pasado, se contrató a una nueva doctora más joven de pediatría para hacerse cargo de la lista de pacientes de la anterior.

No hace falta decir que la nueva doctora tiene un largo camino por recorrer al tratar con personas mayores como yo, ya que su falta de atención al paciente no es nada alentadora para el proceso de curación.

Al dar la noticia, alguien (que podría o no ser POZ, ya que no hay indicios de su estado) me dio el nombre y el hospital de un médico de cabecera que, de hecho, está dentro de la amplia lista de médicos especialistas del hospital de investigación.

Entonces, en un mes aproximadamente, si mi médico de cabecera no cumple con mis estándares rígidos, haré una cita para reunirme con el otro médico y ver qué tan bien nos llevamos antes de apretar el gatillo y hacer un cambio tan drástico.

After seeing my previous id pcp since the first correct Poz diagnosis until long after the diagnosis of Aids we had a deeper relationship than just dr and patient .

When she retired last year a new younger dr was brought in from pediatrics to take over the last drs patient roster .

Needless to say the new dr has a long way to go when dealing with old farts like me because her lack of a bedside manner is less than encouraging to the healing process .

Upon broadcasting my news someone ( who might or might not be Poz since there's no indication of their status ) gave me the name and hospital of an id pcp who us actually within the research hospitals vast list of speciality drs .

So in a month or so if my id pcp isn't up to ny rigid standards I shall be making a meet and greet appointment with the other dr to see how well we get along before pulling the trigger and making such a drastic change.
