Encontré la Fundación para el Cuidado de la Salud del SIDA. No sabía por dónde empezar. Me comunicaba con MISTR, pero una vez que mis resultados dieron positivo, me hice varias pruebas para ellos y no he vuelto a saber nada. El primer día que fui a AHF, me pusieron en tratamiento de inmediato; me acogieron y me hicieron sentir como en familia.

I found Aids Health Care Foundation. I didn’t know where to start. I was communicating with MISTR but once my results came back positive I did several test for them and haven’t heard anything. My first day going to AHF they instantly got me on treatment my 1st day there took me in and made it feel like family.

Cuando vivía en el estado de Washington, en una comunidad agrícola, no tenía otra opción. Solo había un médico, una clínica, con horario limitado, que con el tiempo se amplió a más días. Teníamos que entrar por una puerta específica, y estoy seguro de que otros ya sabían lo que significaba.

Además, como era nuevo en Los Ángeles, no sabía en qué parte de la ciudad estaba la clínica ni cómo llegar. No conduje en Los Ángeles durante mis primeros tres meses. Solo sabía que había tres autobuses urbanos en mi barrio.
Un día me subí al 180 para ver a dónde iba. Me subí al 180 varias veces, recorriendo diferentes tramos de la línea, solo para explorar.
En ese entonces, me dedicaba a la reventa en eBay, y el autobús pasaba por la tienda de segunda mano más cercana. Nunca había oído hablar de eso. Así que, al regresar de explorar, me bajé del autobús y entré en la tienda de segunda mano. Nunca había visto algo así. No solo era una tienda de segunda mano, sino que también había un gimnasio, una pequeña tienda de comestibles, un centro de pruebas, una farmacia y una clínica. Así que pregunté por los servicios. El lugar se llama AHF Hollywood. No sabía nada de AHF. Solo sabía que era un lugar al que podía llegar en autobús. Así que por eso elegí AHF. Por cierto, ahora conduzco por todo Los Ángeles. Superé mi miedo.

When I was in Washington state. In s farming community. I didn’t have a choice. It was only one dr. One clinic. Limited hours. Which eventually grew to more days. We had a certain door we had to enter. Which im sure other people figured out what that door meant.
Fast forward to relocating to Los Angeles. It was overwhelming. To be exposed to options. I was mainly looking on line. I knew I had about 45 days to figure this out. Also new to los Angeles I didn’t know anything about what part of the city the clinic was in ot how to get there. I wouldn’t drive in Los Angeles for about my first 3month. All i knew there were three city buses in my neighborhood.
One day I hopped on the 180. That went to see where it goes. I hopped on the 180 several times going farther along the line just exploring where it goes.
At the time i used to do reselling on EBay. And the bus passed out of the closest thrift store. Which i never heard of. So on my return from exploring I got off the bus went into the thrift store. I have never seen this set up before. Not only was it a thrift store, there is a gym, small grocery store, a testing site, pharmacy and a clinic. So i enquired about the services. The place is known as AHF Hollywood. I knew nothing about AHF. All i knew this is a place I can get to on the bus. So this is how I chose AHF. Btw now I drive all over Los Angeles. Got over my fear.
