Growing or Grinding?

They say 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger,' but sometimes it just makes you tired. How do you tell the difference between 'growing' and just 'grinding'?

Buena pregunta. Good question. I am grinding away and have been for years. I went back to school and got a degree in Social Work and Chaplacy and it is allowing me to work part-time and make a little money so I am not broke all the time. Sold my house after the hurricane tore it up and insurance and FEMA didn't give me enough money to completely fix it up. Living with my sister and we get along well. Her boyfriend is getting treated fine prostate cancer and so he is here most of the time. His house is only a block away from ours. He is really having a rough time. I work with people who are diagnosed with bad diseases, but it's different when they are right there with you most of the time. I sold my house and put the money in CD's with my sister and my name on them. I was thinking last night about all the people that I have had relationships with and only 2 are still alive. I like working because it gives me something to do and people to interact with. Hope you are doing well. You have been on this site as long as I have or longer. Have a good hump day. Chaplain David

I think growing feels like there’s some kind of direction, even if it’s slow or uncomfortable. Grinding feels like you’re just surviving, repeating the same cycle, and getting more drained without anything really changing.

For me, if I can see even a small shift, even 1% better, that’s growth. If I’m just pushing through with no movement and getting more worn down, that’s grinding.

Mi VIH no me causa dolor.

My challenge is my Ankle the Pain I live with 24/7, and no cure but Amputation that’s where my Focus Lyes, nothing else why, my HIV don’t give me pain,
my back hurts, my knee, my Ankle big time pain that’s what I think about every 24/7 🌞
But I stay Strong no matter what 🌞
