I am in Georgia..How are the resources ,especially in New York..I do NOT want to be homeless ANYWHERE

, @A myHIVteam Member, I would suggest talking to an HIV agency who has social worker where you currently reside and see If they can help you call and research what services are available in that particular area. It's a benefit that they will know how to speak to them over the phone, know questions to ask, and be able to provide a file or envelope of information gathered, so that you will have what you need, to come to a conclusion, whether you should move or not.
In L.A., I got in with a health dept, which lead me to a hotel for the homeless, which had money to help those with HIV, State/Federal funds were allocated for the homeless and it allowed me to be in a very small room, small closet, with communal showers in a hotel. After 90 days, they placed me into a more permanent situation using HOPWA funds. My living situation improved, and that's a start, in the right direction.
I hope this helps some.

All states have Hopwa, if you are relocating to New York, it’s best to contact agencies and clinics in the area to see what they offer. Some agencies or clinics may only operate in a certain geographic area. Also don’t discount the MTA. They will more than likely have resources.
Most services are not designed for people who just want to move in. There maybe residency requirements.
