As we all know guidelines are to start ARV medication as soon as possible which gives you a close to normal life span. With that being said there are many long term survivors who were on toxic meds. such as protease inhibitors in the late 90s that were really not good. The answer to that is NO, you are not safe to have unprotected sex. You can still get other STI's, but let's stick to just HIV
