Yes, you'd think people in West Hollywood or San Francisco would be different but once they know, you are branded, and the news does spread. I have said it before; not all gays or HIV-positive people share the sense of camaraderie just like any other peer group in life. But do you want to see your friends really take off?: become clinically depressed or bi-polar! I felt so lonely, alone and isolated for 7 years due to that. Only my two best friends: one totally deaf and one with incurable cancer continued to care about me. All the others? Well I ran in a posse and I was the leader but now there is only scant acknowledgement on Facebook. I doubt that I will ever see them again: even someone I had a six year-live in relationship with! Going back to work saved me; nobody will ever know and, among the faculty, I soon took the helm, much to the discomfort of my principal. But they asked me back. Where are they going to find another French teacher, anyway!
Everything, from financial affordability to the availability of what's out there. Some countries have better meds, but with FDA and federal regulations, which the feds have sent millions of dollars for answers and research, but yet won't approve the results. Now we sit around while local hard driving individuals suffer. If they (gov/FDA) weren't goning to approve the results of millions of $$ spent on true research then they should have spent the $$ on us, and helping us with the cost of the meds we are on.
It just might have so never forget just one day at a time always think to yourself that tomorrow will always be better
Biggest obstacle with HIV . . . .now experiencing the long term side effect of medication - becoming older ( although HIV had little to do with that - the trips around the sun have not stopped ) and dealing with 'conditions' that usually would not happen for another 15 - 20 years . . . . dealing with a degree of poverty and isolation . . . . and as a long term survivor the extreme loss of friends during those worst years in the early 90's ( last century now ) . . . and dealing with what I call galloping fatigue . . . . PLUS having the repeat and repeat and repeat my meds,. what diseases/conditions I've had ( medical history ) - the where's the when's the what did you do. the hospital name, the name and address of the specialist, the date of the visit/condition/treatment. Yes it is easy to document on a computer, smart phone, I Pad, ( what have you ) Half the time the person listening, reading the document you just filled out, asking the question - are not really listening. AND - when in a facility not getting the proper medication at the correct time ( for you or what you have decided with your primary physician ) this despite documented ( and copied just for such occasions ), that is possibly the most annoying thing.
no such thing as old age. youthfully challenged yes, old no LOL
