What worked for me was testing HIV+. After that, there was no question regarding condom use. Too bad I couldn't learn that prior to HIV infection.

It is quite possible. But truthfully what can you do about it if you don't have the proof? Even if you did, what's the point? One of the first questions my friends asked me was "do you know who you got it from?" Even if I did, why bother? I'd rather focus my energies on staying healthy. While HIV is our common thread here, I would feel the same about any infectious desease. Anyone who would intentionally give someone hepatitis, herpes, COVID, or even pink eye, is a shit of a person.
