Después de 15 años de matrimonio y lealtad ciega… la vida es un torbellino. Se acerca el décimo aniversario de mi descubrimiento… muchas emociones reprimidas y traumas están saliendo a la superficie, pero me permito procesarlos y seguir adelante.

After 15 years of marriage and blind loyalty…life’s a whirlwind. I’m coming up on my 10 year anniversary of finding out…a lot of suppressed emotions and trauma is surfacing but I allow myself to process and keep moving forward.

Mi ex lo negó hasta que ya no pudo negarlo. Es su problema. Estoy en tratamiento. No debería estar pasando por lo que está pasando ahora, porque se lo dije hace 12 años. Y por lo que veo, otras personas también lo dijeron. Seguimos siendo amigos y yo seguí adelante con mi vida. No necesitaba que él confirmara si me lo había contagiado o no. En retrospectiva, ojalá hubiera dejado que el departamento de salud se encargara de él. Pero quién iba a saber que no se haría la prueba. Es su problema.

My x denied it until he couldn't deny it. His problem. I'm in treatment. He should not be going through what he's going through right now, because I told him 12 years ago. And so had other people from what I can see. We are still friends and I moved on with my life. I didn't need him to validate whether or not I got it from him. In hindsight, I wish I would have let the department of health handle him. But who knew he wouldn't get tested. His problem.

Definitivamente hay personas aquí, tanto hombres como mujeres, que contrajeron el virus por eso. Es mi opinión personal. Creo que hay más mujeres que lo contrajeron por una infidelidad.

Él lo sabía (y todos sus amigos también). Finalmente lo admitió después de acusarme falsamente de haberle contagiado una ETS y sugerirme que me hiciera la prueba (a los seis meses de relación). Quería odiarlo, pero no podía. Me sentí intrínsecamente conectada a él hasta su muerte, aunque ya no estuviéramos juntos. ¡Síndrome de Estocolmo!

He knew (so did all of his friends). He finally admitted it after falsely accusing me of giving him an STD and suggesting I get tested (6 months into the relationship). I WANTED to hate him, but I couldn't. I felt intrinsically connected to him until his death, even though we weren't together. Stockholm Syndrome!!
