I always felt others should feel privileged to know something so personal.

Most of my friends are straight and they don't need to know since the chances of having sex with them is zero. My gay friends who are HIV+ are more understanding and we can relate without any further discussions or understanding. My gay friends who are HIV- are no longer my friends for the simple reason that they think they are better than I am and no longer invite me to do things with them as we did before the pandemic, like going to the beach or Las Vegas. Good riddance! and it is true when all is said and done, your true friends will surface. I have learned to forgive them but they are no longer important to me going forward and I can live with that.

These days if is hard! I contracted HIV back in the 80's and up to the early 2000's there was no problem really disclosing your status because, in my case, all my friends, that is who survived, were HIV. Now it totally different with the new state of the art meds and lack of focus on the disease. Just be yourself and when the right time comes confide in the friends you feel you can trust. You'll be alright!

People that I thought were my friends didn't speak with me and one time I was at their home I drank a glass of water and they threw the glass in the trash. At church they no longer wanted me on hospitality. I was fine when my sister tried to attack my children say she was going to their schools and tell everyone. Well I had it with her antics and contacted both of our parents and I said" if she goes after my babies and try to hurt them I will kill her myself because I can not take anyone to attack my offspring. You can talk and attack my character but when it came to my children I'm going for the jugular! Needless to say my father talked to her and she didn't try me. So I eventually left the town to the one I'm at
Best thing I did. My church family loves me treat me like I don't have anything. I have educated them on hiv/aids. I almost died in 2000 but it was my Pastor who came every day even when my own parents couldn't stand the sight of me with the I've in my knack and twenty bottles of meds. Did you know they can give you fat through an iv? February 10, 1992 tw0 doctors told me I had 3 years to live. Ha God said different. I know if you have positive minded people around you it will boost your immune system. Oh that day if you were under 300 tells it was considered aids. Mine were 230 . My faith has kept me and as long as King Jesus is still sitting on the throne I'm going to stay a Child of Almighty God.
