I'm dealing with this and my doctor is assuring me that getting down from my 226 pounds to around 200 and getting more exercise will alleviate most if not all of the problem. Of course, I'm not the least bit interested in cirrhosis of the liver. I've never been much for alcohol, so it's not from that. Sugar and carbs (rice, bread and pasta) are on the list of things for me to monitor and cut back. I'm cool with the prognosis and with the steps to correct the situation. I also appear to have fatty liver. More tests are underway. I’ve not drank in 10 years. I’m not overweight, at 161#. I’m no gym bunny, but not a couch potato. I have a follow up appointment next week. I’m now watching test results, including sonogram, trickle in.

Some of the HIV meds can cause fatty liver disease this can lead to cirrhosis I think.
Yes from my understanding the medications for HIV, can cause fatty liver disease. Or the medical term is NAFLD, which stands for non alcaholic fatty liver disease. Especially those have had the history of HIV meds starting with AZT.
