With all the terrible shootings, war in Ukraine, inflation, Covid, climate change to name a few, I find my anxiety naturally more elevated. Having HIV for half of my life and experiencing all the deaths of friends in the 80's and 90's, I feel we are now reliving something similar in of sorts a man made epidemic. Perhaps I take this all too personally, but I cannot in due conscience turn a blind eye to the reality we are currently experiencing. Anxiety turns into stress, and also depression… read more
Good question. It has caused me a lot of stress and worry. While I have been experiencing that, like others who are taking action to help ease the stress, I have recommitted to serving on my local Planning Council once again (last time was twenty-five years ago). I like to think that advocating for those over 50 and living with HIV will help to change the way medical care and mental health services are delivered. Through that. great question. I choose to allow my anxiety to spur me on to better and more productive changes. I am dismayed at the senseless shootings , the War and Climate change but only have the ability to control one thing. Climate change and the factors that contribute to this. For example, I shop with my reusable bags, buy products with less plastic coverings, increase my recyclable products and use my car sparingly. These are small things but I feel these are manageable for me. The others I can only shake my head and contribute to the support group for the War. I can't do anything about the shootings so dismay at the shootings and wonder where it will stop.
i try not to read or watch the news anymore. then I don't have to worry about anxiety or stress
Anxiety, stress, and depression are our enemies.
Thank you for your question. As far as what's going on in the world today , oh,....
.. it's been going on, we just weren't aware of it as much as as we are now.
Having said that, I have become more active in voter registration, volunteer work and writing to my senators and Reps so that we can change some of the laws that produced these terrible events. And that's all I can personally do other than showing my neighbors a lot of love. That's what helps relieve my anxiety, knowing that I'm doing my share to bring about change!🤎💜💙💚💛🧡❤
