I live in Oklahoma; dating someone who is negative can lead to them being able to blackmail you. I now keep my status to myself and don't leave the house as much. Dating poz people is ideal and less risk of drama. Since U=U came out, not much has changed in Oklahoma. The gay community still stigmatizes other gay men living with HIV.

It's easy now with education and advertisements for ART and prep on TV. I have a negative fiancé and a positive bf. W We don't use condoms at all because they break easily. The ART protects me and them from infection. My partners understand how the ARTs work and they insist on bareback. No one has gotten sick or infected because the meds work.

A told a few friends who are negative my status and the friendship basically died. What's worst is that our friendship has never been sexual. So i keep to myself when it comes to dating. I "talk" to a couple guys but it's distance so its not sexual but it's some to talk to.

Preference is for poz BUT since U=U was announced, negative people seem less concerned about dating poz - which is nice and even a little surprising. I don't go out looking for negative people - just the opposite - but have dated negative people. The most important thing is compatibility - and status may or may not fit into that category - depending on the preferences (if any) of the parties to the relationship.
